Fey
During the Age of Respite, the magnanimous, wonderful, clever, hilarious, gormful Gin created exaggerated representations and misinterpretations of all things that were, have been, or will be.
This has amounted to sometimes mundane items, such as Birds or Candy. Those specifically seen as clearly 'different' or 'of another world' are known as Fey. Bizarre takes on other creations which tend to have alien, capricious motivations and forms. If you want help grasping this broad concept, it's like if you looked at something through a coleidoscope, or you saw it in a dream, or it was imagined by a child, but then you see with full clarity that's just how it is.
Initially these creations went unnoticed by the inhabitants of Tolaris, relegated to their Fey realm in an indefinite state of utter chaos. While there may have been plays on traditional courts or tribes at first, any order was consumed by the overwhelming tide of nonsense. Occasionally one might have peirced the veil, only to be dispatched or chased off by the locals and relegated to rumour. If they didn't soon blend in or adapt. Eventually, the more clever Fey found ways to cross over on purpose and things quickly escalted for both the realm of Tolaris and the Fey. Mockeries of the prevaling races, and incomprehensible aliens show up staking claims, and it caused a fair bit trouble. For those who prevaled or were left unperturbed, they launched back into the Fey Realms prepared to make something decent of their home. At least, what they saw as decent. Even now their home is strange, but at least it's home. Many of the Fey commonly feature plant, avian, and crystalline features. Being some of Gin's favourite bits of creation.
