Sky Bison
The Sky Bison are used by the Air Genasi of the Upper Isles for transportation, moving large cargo, and even as beasts of war by some of them during the Exploration Era as The Common Races from The Continent began to encroach on their territory.
Basic Information
Anatomy
There are two variants. Smaller 4 legged ones which are quite nimble and also large 6 legged ones.
The smaller ones are similar in size to a normal bison albeit longer in length with a large flat hair covered beaver like tail.
The larger ones are oftentimes around 10ft tall and 30ft long also with a large hair covered beaver like tail.
Both creatures have large horns with massive strength and stamina able to run multiple days without sleep. Furthermore they have a unique substance known as Vereen which interacts with magic giving them the ability to fly due to the inherit magic nature of the beasts.
Genetics and Reproduction
Similar to a normal bison, there also doesn't appear to be a correlation between the sizes of the Sky Bison and the initial variant and appears to simply be random. There is an ongoing hypothesis at the time of the Exploration Era that it is surrounded by how much magic is in the area through the gestation period.
Growth Rate & Stages
Sky Bison are slow growing creatures and rarely grow up anymore completely in the wild. Typically they prefer the company of the Air Genasi for protection due to how long it can take for the young ones to grow into fully grown adults.
Ecology and Habitats
Native to the Upper Isles and rarely seen outside. The Sky Bison can be seen roving the Upper Isles in large numbers prior to the Exploration Era.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Beyond normal bison like animal senses, the Sky Bison are capable of noticing huge distortion in the natural magick field. It is believed this was an enhancement caused from The Rupturing.
Conservation Status
The Air Genasi of the Upper Isle's culture is surrounded in part by the existence of the Sky Bison and become quite fierce when hunters and pirates hunt them often simply for fun.
