The Kesserquay Hag
The Kesserquay Hag is a legend from part of the Moldur Region consisting of several different villages. It is a tale about the unnaturalness in a dwarf controlling nature through magic which, especially in earlier ages, was considered an affront or abomination.
Summary
The legend surrounding a young dwarven girl who had somehow learned to control magic from nature which was considered unnatural by the local Dwarven population of Kesserquay and Silvergrove. Thus they would commonly cause havoc for this girl eventually leading them to exile her out of the towns.
From there while the girl attempted to live in solace she quickly grew more powerful and gained much of the fellowship of the animal populace. After some time she fell in love with a local logger who returned the love until one day she betrayed him and used him to find the location of the local guards. She then razed the famous Kesserquay Fort before fleeing to the darker areas of the forests.
The village of Kesserquay had been under hard times which brought most of the blame on the hag which led to her exile. However after many years when bad events happen she is quickly set to blame. This includes children disappearing, crops being razed, and general bad luck on the village.
Historical Basis
The legend is set in actual records in Fort Kesserquay. It is known there was a mysterious Dwarven girl with control over Nature Magic and that she was charged with the burning of the guard house and disappearance of a local boy.
Spread
The myth is common throughout the southeast region of the Moldur Kingdom and became a common theme in smaller villages during earlier eras.
Cultural Reception
Curiously, the nearby human villages on the other side of the Dwarven Vastness consider this a tragedy rather than a cautionary tale. This is widely considered likely due to the large use of Nature Magic by humans during the War of Endless Aggression .
