The Kingdom of Pyrrhos

We train and learn for the day that we fight Demons and Outsiders. Everyone has a role to fill.

Structure

Power is shared at the highest level by the Court, The Diet, and the Council. The Court approves laws, ratifies treaties, and declares war. The King is the leader of the Court, and he appoints two members. the other two members are elected, one from the military and one from the civilian population. Members of the Court other than the king serve five year terms, and those appointed cannot serve consecutive terms on the Court, while those elected have no such limitations. The Diet makes and refines laws. it is from the Diet that the elected members of the Court are drawn, and members of the Diet are elected by a town or village to serve as their representative. Each settlement only gets one representative, but a number of votes that may be traded for favors, resources or land. The Diet decides which members sit on the Council. The Council´s primary function is to judge laws. if they determine a law to be oppressive or flawed, they can send it for review at the diet. if they are still unhappy with the law, they can choose to repeal it, negating it. Also, the Council can impeach any member of the Court. If they Impeach the King, a regent is appointed in his place until his oldest living relative is ready to take over. Otherwise, elections are held. In individual settlements, a similar structure exists, though instead of the hereditary position of King, an elected position of Mayor exists. The Mayor fulfills the same roles as the King, but does not have a regent appointed if he is impeached.

Public Agenda

Pyrrhos is currently ramping up for expansion into the mountains to the north of it´s current borders. If they take those mountains, they can capture valuable mines of iron, silver and other metals.

History

The first settlers migrated across the continent overland, arriving over ten thousand years ago. They were a mix of Orcs, Beastmen, and Humans who settled in a ruined Dwarven city. Influences of dwarfish architecture including relatively small doorways and high ceilings as well as a preference for stone.

Demography and Population

Pyrrhos is made up of two small cities, a dozen large towns, fifty small towns, over a hundred villages, and several dozen thorps and hamlets dotting the spaces in between. The kingdom encompasses 400,000² shan, comprised of hills in the north, grasslands in the middle, and forests to the south and east, while the coast is on the west.
