Lizardfolk culture is steeped in tradition and ritual, with many of these customs centered around the concept of the soul. One of the most important of these rituals is the "Hist ritual," which is performed by young lizardfolk as they reach maturity. The ritual involves drinking sap from a tree called "hist," which is believed by the lizardfolk to give them their souls. The tree is considered sacred among the lizardfolk and its sap is highly valued. The Hist tree is a rare tree, it's mostly found in the swamps and marshes, where lizardfolk are known to live, and it's known to be a very old tree. The ritual is typically performed at the age of 14, and it's considered a rite of passage for young lizardfolk. It is believed that without this ritual, the lizardfolk will grow normally, but they will not be considered fully formed by their society and will not be considered to have a soul. They will be shunned by their community and treated as outcasts. The sap of the hist tree is known to have a hallucinogenic effect on the drinker, leading to visions and intense emotions that are believed to be associated with the acquisition of one's soul. The ritual is also considered to be a test of courage, as the sap is known to have a bitter taste, and it is said to take a strong will to swallow it. In conclusion, the Hist ritual is an important part of lizardfolk culture, it is believed that the sap of the Hist tree is the source of the lizardfolk soul, and those who cannot go through this ritual will not be considered full members of their society.Warriors
The Crocnez lizardfolk, devout worshippers of dinosaurs, exhibit their reverence by donning dinosaur skulls as helmets. While some are gifted with the ability to transform into these mighty creatures, those without this capability choose the largest skulls, fitting them as helmets. Their head, protuding from the oversized skull's mouth, create the illusion of greater height for the wearer. Among the druids, the most revered elders are often seen wearing the skull of a deviljho, a formidable foe. Youngster tend to wear the skull of a Pukei Pukei.Names
Lizardfolk of the Kural-skatuch clan have personal names given at birth, but they put their clan names first as a mark of honor. Their personal names are taken from the Draconic language. They use simple descriptives granted by the tribe based on an individual’s notable deeds or actions. For example, Garurt translates as “axe,” a name given to a lizardfolk warrior who defeated an orc and claimed his foe’s weapon. A lizardfolk who likes to hide in a stand of reeds before ambushing an animal might be called Achuak, which means “green” to describe how she blends into the foliage. Lizardfolk make no distinction between male and female in their naming conventions. Each example name includes its translation in parenthesis. Lizardfolk Names: Achuak (green), Aryte (war), Baeshra (animal), Darastrix (dragon), Garurt (axe), Irhtos (secret), Jhank (hammer), Kepesk (storm), Kethend (gem), Korth (danger), Kosj (small), Kothar (demon), Litrix (armor), Mirik (song), Othokent (smart), Sauriv (eye), Throden (many), Thurkear (night), Usk (iron), Valignat (burn), Vargach (battle), Verthica (mountain), Vutha (black), Vyth (steel) Clan Names: CrocnezGeography
