History
Backstory
Jade hailed from a destitute village on the outskirts of
Tana's Empire, grappling with scant support and overwhelming tax burdens. Despite her family's lack of magical lineage, Jade manifested mysterious powers, tied to a distinctive phoenix mark on her back. Growing up in the impoverished village, she worked on farms while training to harness her magical abilities through self-teaching. This routine continued into her young adulthood.
The village faced constant threats from raiders, escalating to the kidnapping of children and women when the raiders deemed the meager offerings insufficient. Jade, along with a handful of villagers, played a pivotal role in repelling these aggressors. Their pleas for assistance from the empire went unanswered, fueling Jade's deep-seated resentment toward nobility and authority figures.
As Jade's magical prowess intensified, it became increasingly erratic and uncontrollable, resembling the capricious nature of flames. Recognizing the potential danger, the village elders, and Jade herself, decided it was
Time to seek guidance on mastering her gifts. In a bid to buy time for Jade's quest, the villagers resolved to confront the raiders without her.
With a heavy heart, Jade agreed to embark on this journey, vowing to return swiftly. However, her path took an unexpected turn when, shortly after setting out, she inadvertently set an inn ablaze while attempting a seemingly harmless act of lighting candles. Despite her efforts to aid the occupants and her subsequent surrender, Jade found herself incarcerated, setting the stage for fateful encounters with her future companions.
Adventure
Jade was eager to move on with the goal to seek help with her magic, not to partake in the elven rebellion, even though she harbored resentment toward the Empire. As time progressed, however, she began to enjoy the travels with her companions, and the rebels promised to assist her.
In the Fey plane, she was nervous; it was a dangerous place, after all, and all she wanted was to leave as quickly as possible. During her time in the Fey plane, she encountered Aledia Firetwist, queen and
Archfey of the summer court who knew about what was going on, but Jade's distaste for nobles shone through, so she could not gather as much information as she would have liked, much to her regret. It wasn’t all bad, though; she had already decided before that she would go to the Fire plane to ask the Phoenix directly, an option the rebels gave her.
