History

The story of the Pale Man is intertwined with the mysterious mist that envelops the island of Pandaros, a thick fog that corrupts everything it touches. Within this shrouded land lies Kleinberg Estate, a once-grand mansion now surrounded by decay and death. It is here that the Pale Man resides, a being who, despite his monstrous nature, holds power over the corrupted forces that haunt the island.   When a group of adventurers—Alcadeias, Cyria, Shari, and Vellia—arrive at the estate, they seek answers about the mist and the corruption spreading across the land. The Pale Man becomes the focus of their quest. Though they are greeted by the abominations that serve him, the adventurers insist on an audience with the master of the house. The Pale Man, however, makes them wait, occupied with his own schemes.   As they wait, the group explores the mansion, eventually uncovering the dark, twisted nature of its inhabitants. They encounter the Pale Man himself in his study, where he stands surrounded by papers and maps, his plans centered around the mysterious Misty Vale where he suspect the source of the haze lay. The Pale Man, brandishing a double-bladed sword, immediately notices Shari’s corruption by the Purple Isana, a crystal linked to the mist’s spread.   The Pale Man offers the adventurers a grim choice: they can either fight him for a cure to Shari’s affliction or submit to his service if they lose. Confident in their abilities, the adventurers choose to fight. The Pale Man, true to his devilish nature, turns invisible and uses his powers to shift between planes, creating a chaotic and dangerous battlefield. Despite his cunning, the adventurers manage to outmaneuver him, forcing him to retreat. Defeated but still alive, the Pale Man leaves behind a cure for Shari, who endures excruciating pain as the corruption is purged from her body.   Though they have bested the Pale Man, their story with him does not end there. Later, as the adventurers delve deeper into the mist and encounter a village of Mistborn—beings created by the mist—the Pale Man reappears. Leading a horde of devils, he arrives at the village gates, seeking another confrontation. Cyria, one of the adventurers, manages to rally the Mistborn against the devils, her fierce words striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.   The Pale Man, undeterred by his previous loss, challenges the adventurers once more, promising them greater protection against the Purple Isana if they win. In a brutal and hard-fought battle, the adventurers emerge victorious again. True to his word, the Pale Man leaves behind the promised protection before vanishing, his defeat a blow to his pride but not the end of his influence.   The devil still lay in his estate, corrupting mortals and making deals.
