Sardior (sɑːrdiɔːrˈ/ SAR-dee-or)

God of freedom, God of gem dragons

Sardior is the god of gem dragons. Sardior is said to be a unique ruby dragon. In his natural form, he has a long and sinewy body covered with deep ruby red scales. At a distance, he is often mistaken for an ancient red dragon, but his playful demeanor soon betrays his true self. He is also reputed to be a great conversationalist, and many who meet him are unprepared for his sharp wit.

Worship

Worshipers

Sardior was worshiped by neutral dragons, psions, and psychic warriors. He didn't require much from his followers, and didn't try to guide their decisions. Gem dragons, in return, viewed him as an ideal and strove to be more like him. Sardior was always happy when he granted spells and special abilities to his followers.

Clergy

Sardior had very few clerics. They usually dressed in the appropriate fashion for the area in which they resided, and then embellished the look with an abundance of jewelry in their everyday wear. Many sought out his clerics as sources of knowledge, as most of his followers were considered sages on various subjects.

Lair

Sardior's Lair is the Glittering Lotus Valley in Jovar, the sixth heaven of Mount Olympus. The ruby dragon can often be spotted flying of the valley, or sitting in its center meditating.

History

Elegy of the First World

According to the ancient draconic myth Elegy for the First World, Sardior was the first creation of the primordial dragons, Bahamut and Tiamat. He helped them to create the first metallic and chromatic dragons and shaped the gem dragon after himself.

Dawn of the Dragon Gods

During the event of the dawn of the dragon-gods, as Zuth commenced his assault on the dragon army, the three dragon gods—Bahamut, Sardior, and Tiamat—observed the conflict with keen interest.   In the battle against Zuth, the fighters, Alexstrasza, Neltharion, Nozdormu, Malygos, and Ysera, in an attempt to protect everything they held dear, and blessed by the three dragon gods, banished Zuth from existence.   After such a feat, the five dragons were blessed with godly power and agreed to protect Toriel. By channeling the power of the three dragon gods, they were able to ascend to godhood themselves.
