Silken Steel Forest

The strongest fibers and ropes found in the Plane of Faerie originate from the spiders that call the Silken Steel Forest home. Spiders of all kind can be found in the dark forest, from giant spiders to puppet spiders, but the true gem are the steel spiders that weave delicate yet immensely strong webs. With the appropriately skilled craftsman, such webbing can be turned into armor that is a light as leather but as strong as plate, making it a valuable item for fashion-minded fey seeking protection.

Features

The roads within the silken steel forest are covered in large patches of spiderwebs. The webbed path, 20 feet wide and 60 feet long, is difficult terrain. A creature that enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or become restrained by the webs. A restrained creature can use its action to try to escape, doing so with a successful DC 12 Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. Each 10-foot square of webbing has AC 10, 15 hit points, vulnerability to fire damage, and immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage.

History

In the Silken Steel Forest, a unique tradition is upheld by the druids. They revere fallen warriors who once protected the forest by planting seeds within their leftover armor. As the plant life begins to grow, the druids awaken it, giving rise to legions of animated armors that safeguard the forest.   In some instances, these druids themselves don the armors of the fallen warriors, demonstrating their utmost respect and commitment to protecting the forest. These druids are among the rare wearing metal armors.   Should these animated armors be left unattended, they eventually grow into large trees, with the armor serving as the core of the tree. These unique trees boast bark as resilient as metal. Moreover, the sap produced by these trees has properties akin to an oil of sharpness.   The druids of the silken steel forest are called the Circle of the Iron grove.
