Vandergrift
Vandergrift is an arch-wraith.
During that war, King Trone's troops, crossed the mountains marching to the lightfoot land the third day after the autumn equinox. The lightfoot kingdom, led by Seltkirk, had good spies however so they were ready for the dwarves whom they proceeded to annihilate.
Vandergrift cut Seltkirk off from the rest of his army. The two met in the middle of the melee. It was a battle of titans. In the end, the Vandergrift hacked Seltkirk and sliced the knight from his head to his groin. A terrible death that sent the lightfoot ranks into disarray.
During the battle, Vandergrift's long simmering disdain of magic came to a head and the general argued with the war-mage bitterly which led the casters to retaliate by summoning fire and causing balls of fire to rain down on the dwarven troops and lightfoot kingdom combatants alike.
Earlier, in peacetime, Seltkirk and Vandergrift had met at a tournament. Seltkirk won then. Vandergrift's hammer cracked and Vandergrift had to yield. In response, Vandergrift had the smith who had forged the hammer hanged, and commissioned a new warhammer forged by the best smiths and mages in house frozen. He named this new hammer "hathorth", meaning "hatred" in dwarvish, and continued to wield this warhammer until his death on the battlefield, where he was one of the approximately 3,000 soldiers burned to death by the war-mage's fireballs.
This tragic death turned Vandergrift into an Arch-wraith, and the battlefield became a haunted place, a link to the shadowfell and the newly created arch-wraith domain of dread. It is said that Vandergrift undead form can only be slain using Hathorth, a weapon now lost to history.

Unlike most wraith, Vandergrift violent death in the fiery battlefield gave him immense power over fire. As such any ability of the arch-wriath that would normally deal necrotic damage instead deal fire damage, And the wraith is immune to fire and thunder damage.Lair
The undead form of Vandergrift still haunt the battlefield were he was once slain, recreating a perpetual battlefield, covered in flames, and striked by falling blazing meteors. THe place is covered in a mist, a portal between the Arch-wraith domain of dread and perpetual battlefield and the mortal realm.History
