War of the Serpent and the Sky

The War between the Chezucore Theocracy and the Aarakocra was a bloody and bitter conflict between two vastly different races, the Chezucore, a theocracy of the Yuan-ti, and the Aarakocra, bird people from the Elemental Plane of Air. Often refered to as the war of the serpent and the sky.

History

The Aarakocra, who lived in the elemental plane of air, received a divine message from their god to travel to the material plane in search of a sign. Upon arriving on the material plane, they found themselves within the territory of the Chezucore, a powerful and ancient theocracy of the Yuan-ti. The Aarakocra, believing that the sign they were searching for was within Chezucore territory, began to attempt to dominate the Yuan-ti.   This led to a war between the two races, with the Aarakocra initially gaining the upper hand due to their superior mobility and aerial abilities. However, the Chezucore, facing the possibility of defeat, began to experiment with creating magical diseases. They were able to develop a disease that was particularly deadly to the Aarakocra, who were vulnerable to it. This disease was spread among the Aarakocra, weakening and killing many of them.   As a result, the tide of the war shifted in favor of the Chezucore, who were immune to the disease. The Aarakocra were forced to retreat and the war came to an end.   The War of the Serpent and the Sky is remembered as a dark and brutal chapter in the history of Toriel. The disease that was created during the war still exists and is commonly found among the Aarakocra population, weakening and killing many of them. It serves as a constant reminder of the atrocities committed during the war and serves as a warning against the dangers of using Magic in the pursuit of war.
