Yetis are large, furry humanoid monstrosities that usually stalk alpine peaks in a ceaseless hunt for food. Their snow-white fur lets them move like ghosts against the frozen landscape.
Culture
Although generally regarded as untamed monstrosities, yetis are actually quite intelligent. The ones in
Blanmistral Plains, utilize strategy in combat, name each other and even believe in an afterlife called the "Afterlands."
They form small family groups, and may occasionally gather in large forces to attack settlements in retaliation for poachers hunting them.
Yetis practice ambush, lying and waiting for long periods of time, nearly covered in snow, and blending in well in the icy environment. When prey passes nearby, the creature bursts out of a snowmound and hurls itself at its victim, looking it directly in the eyes if possible. The gaze of a yeti is said to paralyze prey with fear, and, once paralyzed, the yeti frequently grabs the prey and begins to rend at it and strangle it, as it does little to resist. A yeti's fur deals cold damage on contact as it absorbs heat, and it is thick enough to protect the creature from cold, but the creature is vulnerable to fire, as the fur quickly lights and the yeti's skin burns easily.
Characteristics
Physical features
Yetis appear as a cross between a
Human and a bear walking upright. Although they are usually white, their fur turns brown in the short summer of the north. Yetis have an extra, translucent eyelid that allow them to see clearly in a snowstorm. Most yetis are large, but abominable yetis, which are exceptionally fearsome and powerful, are of huge size. Abominable yetis stand three times as tall as a human and are highly territorial and ferocious.
