As the city burns
General Summary
When last we left our adventurers.....
The party had decided to rest up for the night's adventure staking out the drow's carriage route. After hiding their gold and other valuables around Tykus's Tower, the crew turned in for some shut-eye. After falling into a deep dreamless sleep, the adventurers find themselves in the pure and complete darkness of an empty void. No sky, no ground, no end in sight. Just nothingness and each other. Sometime later as the party wanders thru the dark, Soma began noticing indistinct shapes at the edges of his vision. Always juuuuust out of view, no matter where he looked. The shapes were lines, like strands of string stretching covering the entire vertical space of his sight. Eventually the shapes became clearer and clearer and the party realized they were walking in some kind of abstract forest. No one noticed exactly when they could see all of these trees now, but they were definitely not there when they started. Just a gradual fade-in, so subtle it's like they had always been there. Still fairly vague and shapeless, the trees lacked any kind of detail simply evoking the memory of a forest until dancing lights float between them and around them. Everywhere the light touched, little pockets of detail became clear, but then vanished as the light left. These trees went high up into the air seemingly forever, until the forest itself became entirely detailed. The trees had shapes and textures to them. Iago could fly up into the canopy with the dancing lights. They made their way again thru the mysterious forest shrouded in a dense fog floating at the ground. Still, they were alone. Their voices died out without response of even an echo.... until Chips called out the name Eilistraee, a face became barely visible deep within the forest A woman standing tall amongst the trees with white hair but no other discernable features, the party looked at her and she looked at them and the sound of the woman crying out in despair rang in the air. Coming from all around, the party had heard this weeping before.
Strands like strings in a loom were barely visible between the party and the woman. She looked thru them ran her fingers across playing them like a harp. A dissonant chord rang out and once again the party was in darkness.
