A runaway from Elventree, where he was already a refuge from Hillsfar's Great Law of Humanity.

During his travels and adventures taking odd sailing jobs around the Moonsea, a particularly well-paying job lead him to Neverwinter. However, he was double-crossed, and his payment was stolen, along with his father's compass, the one piece of memory he has to remember his (presumed dead) father by. Despite having a disdain for his father who left his family to become a renowned captain, Soma tried to follow in his footsteps to make a life for his own.
