Rules and Playstyle

Rules

  1. It's alright for things to get a bit dark, but use common sense of what might be too far for the group. If anyone has things they are uncomfortable with, please PM me so I can add it here (i.e creepy crawlies, graphic violence ect.). If things take a turn people aren't comfortable with, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it. This isn't a horror game, but sometimes things happen in DnD and I want everyone to be comfortable and able to enjoy.   2. Same thread as the first, if your character wants to have lovers/sleep around that's fine, but it'll be fade to black. If you want to write more amongst yourselves or anything feel free in the PMs, but keep it out of the group server. Additionally, though I doubt it has to be said, consent is key from characters (PC and NPCs) and players. I do not do 'role to seduce,' the dice never have the final say on this matter.   3. Please have a conversation ooc before any PVP. If another PC is doing something that would provoke your character, please let that player know ooc before it gets to the PVP point. I know it can be annoying to break character and talk ooc, but I prefer PVP to be consensual between players so people don't get upset out of game.   4. Please communicate questions, concerns, or unavailability to me. If something is bothering you or you're going to be gone a while, please let me know so I can work the game around that.   5. Though I am always open to concerns and critique, as DM I reserve the right to put my foot down on game rules and issues in the server.   * Let me know if you want any other rules to be added.

My Playstyle

⚔️I am open to homebrew (if you discuss it with me first) and all cannon content, so long as it makes sense in this world. Since my setting is homebrew, there are a few things that don't make sense here or won't work for the story. For example, I won't allow Grung PCs because of their water dependency and, although we can work in a Warforged, there was no war (like the one in their race description) using them in this world.   ⚔️ I level by milestone, not XP. If you do something above and beyond the reward will be inspiration rather than XP. I can be forgetful in handing out inspiration. If you feel I'm being stingy, give me a poke.   ⚔️ I don't tend to track encumbrance, it’s annoying to keep track of the weight of each item. Instead, I generally go by rulings of what makes sense. Carrying 20,000 gold? Have a rowboat on your person? Carrying enough weapons to arm a militia? That doesn't make sense. You have two waterskins, 200 gold, a couple weapons, and a bedroll? You're fine.   ⚔️I play fast and lose/honor code with ammunition. Please keep track of it, I'm not counting your arrows and I'm trusting you. I am usually generous in resupplying them, you won't break bank and it's unlikely you'll run out. I'm more interested in adventure than gritty realism.   ⚔️ For perception and investigation, your passive in these stats is the base. When you roll below your passive, unless you roll a one, I use your passive. My goal as DM is to give you what you notice based on your passive stats when you enter an area and before you try to roll. You only discover more than you’ve already seen if you actively roll higher. This being said, let me know if you need more detail on the situation or you feel I missed something you should have noticed passively. I'm only human and may sometimes forget to describe something a PC with a high passive stats should have already noticed.   ⚔️ As previously mentioned, I don't usually run gritty realism. I am also not a wargamer. I like to run character-driven, plot-heavy adventures. That being said, I am open to critique, please let me know what you want more or less of. If you want more combat, I can work that in, if you want more political elements, I can do that too. I have an arc in mind, but it's flexible. Please never be afraid to let me know your feelings on the campaign, I promise I don't bite.   ⚔️ I mostly follow the 5e rules as written/intended, but I will sometimes go with the rule of cool over the rules as written. I hold having fun and making a good story over following every rule all the time.   ⚔️ Being that I like to run character-driven campaigns, the map and world are very open to things you want to add. The map will be filled in more as we go. If you have ideas for where your character is from or groups, kingdoms, organizations, or religions/deities they might be involved with, let me know and I can add them in. I want to weave backstories into the adventure.   ⚔️ Please have your characters have a reason or motivation to adventure. This might seem silly, but I once ran a game for a group that intentionally ducked every plot hook and sat in the bar wondering why nothing was happening. It's difficult to drag along a character who doesn't want to be there. This isn't a DM versus Players adventure, so let's work together
