Kenku {Raven}

Kenku are a cursed humanoid bird species that lost both their ability to fly, and their ability to speak in their own voice.   While the actual reasons behind their curse are lost among conflicting legends, Kenku carry the knowledge of their curse, as well of racial memories of what it was like to fly, with them as if it was a chain. These memories sometimes cause Kenku to make odd or unpredictable decisions.   Kenku tend to stay together in flocks known as an Unkindness, the same as their Raven brethren. This is an odd name given that both are very social creatures. When a Kenku is out and about among other species, they tend to observe for a while, before heading in to interact. This is both to understand the social energy of the place, what groups are connected, etc. Some use that observational time to identify any shiny objects that are not being watched as closely as they might be.   In social situations, they have learned when to use which voices. Using the voice of the person you are talking to or their friends is sometimes a great icebreaker, and sometimes causes anger. Unless they are under pressure or don't have time to observe, they will know which is which.   Kenku are collectors by nature, and will collect things they consider "shiny." This is something of a misnomer, as different Kenku are interested in different collectibles.
Detail Description

Speed 30' walking
Attributes +2 Dexterity, +1 Intelligence (Alt +2/+1 in any stats)
Ability: Expert Forgery Kenku have an innate ability to duplicate the handwriting or craftwork of other creatures. They get advantage on all checks made to produce forgeries or duplicates of existing objects.

Ability: Mimicry You can mimic sounds you have heard, including voices. The check for others to recognize it as an imitation is a successful Wisdom(Insight) check opposed by your Charisma(Deception) check.
Ability: Vestigial Wings While Kenku can no longer fly, they can fluff or move their feathers or vestigial wings enough to reduce fall damage as if they had fallen 20' less, if they are not in heavy armor.
Ability: Languages They can read and write common and Auran, but can only speak using their Mimicry ability. Assume that Kenku can express any simple idea, albeit in another person's voice. To express a complex idea, they must make an Intelligence check (usually difficulty 8, but more for more complex ideas) to make themselves known. If this roll is failed, they tend to speak gibberish, often in a variety of voices and sounds.

Class Considerations

The stereotypical class for a Kenku is a rogue, as they are automatically proficient in several roguelike abilities and have the dexterity and intelligence bonuses that help make a rogue more effective. However, they all get two roguelike skills regardless, and many Kenku choose different paths.   Some Kenku, who are more wise than book smart will follow the path of the druid, hoping to eventually gain the ability wild shape into something that can fly. Others follow a mystical path in hopes of one day learning the fly spell and more importantly the polymorph spell and taking flight that way. Casters also have "tongue" abilities eventually which allows a Kenku to fully express themselves in what they often pick as "their" voice.   Some few, hoping to address their curse more directly, take up the clerical path in hopes of learning the nature of their curse, and reversing it for themselves or others.   For those not as called to address their racial curse, their dexterity bonus makes them excellent dex-based martial characters.   Beyond their character class, many Kenku focus on artistry or calligraphy, as their Expert Forgery ability allows them to make excellent works of art including manuscripts, that are largely indistinguishable from the originals, and so they are able to profit from their efforts.
