Locathah are anthropomorphic fish, and are only moderately well adopted to the surface world.
Like other humanoids, they have feet, hands, hair, ears and a torso that lets them walk upright on the surface. Their adaptation is not perfect, though, as described in the table below. They are born in the water, and many live their entire lives there. Those that seek to explore the land are said to be "Walking" among their people, and most eventually return.
On land, they are very capable--both strong and dexterous, and they always have the advantage of returning to the water freely, to avoid situations on land. They do find land both fascinating and mildly disturbing. A new locathah who is Walking is often surprised by the idea of roads, game trails and stairs. They understand the idea of territory very well, so the idea of roads that you aren't supposed to take, or the flow of traffic comes naturally to them.
As a people, the locathah have developed specific abilities that help them survive against the various terrors of the water--sharks, monsters, and changes to pressure. They are generally friendly to other locathah or any aquatic race, such as sea elves, who do not try to harm them.
