Madame Freona's Tea Kettle

An eclectic structure located in New Phlan on the outskirts of the city. Once an old guard post before it was sacked and gutted, the site was purchased, renovated and opened by Madame Freona over twenty years ago and has since prospered under her and her daughters management. A range of local cask ales (not to mention the odd exotic import), decent beds and hearty food that doesn’t contain sawdust make it often recommended to visitors, as is its reputation for avoiding the usual troubles & brawls found in the town’s busier or established taverns. The rates are fair, though slightly higher than the going price of a bunk and deals can be struck for those struggling for coin. Fools are not tolerated nor spared a firm boot if this hospitality is abused. Entertainment can vary, though travelling bards and performers are common and will sing for their supper so to speak and the usual dice and card games are given a blind eye as long as the stakes remain low. Interestingly, both the Black Fist and The Welcomers give the place a wide berth and the tavern’s patrons tend to remain less accosted than other travellers entering the city. Regulars are few and locals tend to shy away from the tavern, with rumours abound about both the location and its mysterious owner.

Purpose / Function

In addition to the food and drink offered, adventurers often used the Tea Kettle as a place to take on new jobs in town.

History

Some day, the Harpers of Phlan were looking for a band of adventurers to recover an illegally-acquired red dragon egg and return it to the Tea Kettle for their safekeeping.   Around that same time, an item of immense power was brought to Freona's Tea House. An agent of the Emerald Enclave named Buhrell Caah sought to take the item from its current owner, despite not knowing that it was in fact the tooth of a blue dragon.
