Mordain

Mordain, the Allhammer is the chief god of the Dwarves. His domain is creation and legacy, he delights in the making and crafting of great works and gifted this loves to the Dwarves.    It is believed that he had the greatest part in forming the planet of Toril, taming and shaping the elemental forces of the Primordials to shape and create the world. The Dwarves and indeed many of the faithful of Mordain associate him with the elemental power of earth and give thanks to him for the bounty of the earth. His faithful see the metals and stone that come from the earth as gifts from their god to be shaped into great works to please him.   This aspect of worship has woven itself into Dwarven culture over the millennia and the creation of incredible works of stone and metal has become central in both culture and religion to the Dwarves.   Mordain is often referred to as the Father of the Dwarves because it is said that during the Age of Divergence Mordain forged the first Dwarves and gave them life. This labor is said to have taken the god much time as he tried different metals none of which could bear the life Mordain wished to impart. That was until he forged the first true Dwarf from mithril. The metal could bear the strain of imparting life and so Durin, the first Dwarf and greatest of Mordains works came to be.   Like many of the gods worship of Mordain is not exclusive to the race he gave life, any who craft can worship him. He is the patron god of all smiths regardless of race and has large followings among many of the races who honor him both for the gift of Toril and in hopes of great works of their own.
