The Endless and The Outsiders

In the beginning there was only The Endless. Beings so far beyond mortal reckoning that they are largely ignored, this is what sets them apart from the gods, for gods need to be believed in to exist, The Endless will continue existing whether we believe in them or not, for they are Endless. They represent the fundamental tenets of our cosmos. They were required by creation and so were made manifest, they define and structure creation, give it shape and purpose and allow for all below them. These beings are as follows: Night, Time, Magic, Death, Fate, Dream and Desire. Each one bound the next and brought forth the need of it.   The Endless brought order from chaos, bounded and bordered creation so that this universe could begin but to do this they defined the cosmos and there were things that could not be defined, beings of a different order. Some believe there were early attempts by creation to bring forth The Endless, others believe them to be older, relics from a previous universe. Whatever they are they no longer fit within the bounded universe and they were forced beyond it, outside it and became known as The Outsiders. Since the first moment of this universe The Endless have fought The Outsiders keeping them from a creation that they would unravel and destroy. Mortals fall unnoticed by the universe, gods will fall and creation will shake but will endure but should The Endless fall The Outsiders will come, they will swarm through the universe unraveling it by their very presence and Dendar the Night Serpent will consume Night the first of The Endless and creation will return to chaos.   The Endless define creation and were born before it was bounded and are therefore apart from the spawn of creation that followed, the beings known as the Primordials.
