The Primordials

The Primordials were the first beings to come from the defined cosmos, they were the fundamental essences of the Universe as bound by the Endless. They were manifestations of concepts, and came forth from the cosmos in rapid succession, so rapid that it is not clear if some Primordials came from Cosmos or from other Primordials or were only capable of coming into being because others had come before. The Primordials were content to exist and did so for eons with little changing in the state of the Universe. They have many names but most will know them as the Dawn Titans brought into exitance at the dawn of the universe.
However the introduction of the Demons forced change upon Creation. They had breached the Universe and the Primordials were unsuited to the fight. So the Endless interceded, Desire came forth and made their tenet manifest. The coupling of the Primordials produced the gods, beings of lesser but more concentrated power and greater agency to act in defense of the Universe.
