This 200-foot-long, 15-foot-deep trench serves dark dual purposes as scaffold and racetrack. The authorities of Port Nyanzaru throw convicted criminals into the trench and release dinosaurs or other vicious beasts to chase them. Most do not survive the deadly sprint, but those who do are allowed to go free. Crowds gather regularly to spectate the ordeal, and surviving runners stand a chance of becoming folk heroes.
