Belvari

Belvari was born into the Steluv family, a proud family of nobles looking over the town of Holden on the southwestern edge of Anauroch. Their family were devout followers of Eldath, and as such had sworn off violence. As they grew older Belvari started to question these peaceful ways as they witnessed more and more misfortune falling upon innocent people in their families lands.   One day as they were wandering through the bazaar Belvari heard a commotion in an alley nearby, investigating the source they found a man standing over a child's body, knife in his hand. Belvari didn't stop to think about the dogma they had been raised into, feeling a rage they had never imagined themselves capable of they struck out with a blade that had only moments earlier been used for cutting up an apple. The encounter ended with Belvari standing over the body of the murderer, a few cuts on their face, one across their nose and the other on their eyebrow.   Their parents heard the news in short order and demanded an explanation from their child. They had expected Belvari to apologize, or show remorse, but they refused to tell them what they wanted to hear. Instead Belvari went off on them, telling them that thanks to their pacifist ways a child under their protection was dead. Belvari's parents couldn't accept their child's turning away from Eldath and exiled them, crossing an X onto their signet ring. This was meant to be a mark of shame, but to Belvari it was a point of pride. Despite their vanity they would also keep the scars from the encounter as a reminder.   No more would they sit idly by and allow evil to flourish, it had to be stopped. No notions such as pacifism would be used as a shield against taking action and preventing harm coming upon innocents.   It had been a few months that they were on the road before they got in over their head taking on a group of bandits on the road, and were saved by a passing follower of the Raven Queen, and eventually found themselves in her service.   Belvari spent years living in a magocracy in the Shadowfell, studying and learning the ways of the Shadar-Kai and the Raven Queen, eventually rising up the ranks to be a Kithguard.   They have been having dreams though, dreams of a great calamity on the horizon that only comes in unclear images, and they decided the time had come for them to step back into the world at large, now was the time to fight back, to find evil where it lives, to strike it down so that it may do no more harm, and to hopefully prevent their dreams from coming to pass.
