Prayer of Love

Purpose

The Prayer of Love is a written prayer used to bless a couple in love in a religious ceremony to the deity Taphri, the deity of faithful love. It is more a show of commitment between partners rather than anything official by the government, but those close to Taphri takes the ceremony very seriously.   Before the ceremony, the priest of Taphri prepares the Prayer of Love, which is a written poem to the Creator and Taphri, and the couple then signs it with their names. The ceremony takes place in a temple, usually with a lot of the couple's friends and family around, where the priest sings a prayer to Taphri while the couple, together, sets fire to the paper to offer it to the deity.   The ceremony is usually very festive, with lots of light, colourful clothes, and incense. In fact, the Prayer of Love is often infused with incense that gets released as the paper burns.   After the prayer has been offered the couple often celebrate with their friends and family. While both are usually present at the ceremony, the party afterwards are usually attended more by friends than by family, often only siblings and maybe cousins around the same age as the couple stays around for this part. The party go on throughout the night, often with lots of drinking, dancing and eating.

D'aw, that's so sweet. :D Are there any variations on the poem?

Probably. I still am not done with quite how marriage and relationships work in the different cultures so I didn't flesh this out too much for now, but it will definitely be updated later on! :D

Aww, this was so sweet. The Anvil needs more poetry and as a writer of romantic poetry (albeit only in Estonian), I give this article my seal of approval. Well done Etalia, keep up the great work!

Aww thank you <3 My poems are very simple but I do enjoy writing them! (I may or may not be thinking of rewriting my creation myth in verse after Summer Camp)
