Artificial Weave Portal

An Artificial Weave Portal is what can be created in a brain transplant from a Weave Accessible race to a non-Weave Accessible race, granting said race increased magical power and mana capabilities.

The Weave

The Weave is where Magic comes from. All people have weave portals in their brains, which is where they can draw magic from.   However, there are some races in Totania which have a greater connection to their Weave Portals. These are Draconians, Elves, Humans, Giants, Jinn, and Devils.   What this special connection allows one to do is tap into the Weave itself, gaining unlimited mana for a certain period of time through something called a Weave Anchor. It then allows for stronger spells, a spell known as Counterspell, and eventually allowing one to travel to the Weave itself.

Experimentation

Dwarves do not have this connection. Therefore, if one intends to get it, they would need to implant at least part of the brain of a Weave Accessible person into their brain.   This is how an Artificial Weave Portal is created, by implanting a Weave Accessible brain into a non-Weave Accessible person. It then requires knowledge of the Weave and how to access it, as the Weave is only reachable to those who are aware of it and aware of how to gain access to it.

Melthrum

Melthrum was the Dwarven General of the Orange Phoenixes Squad. He was part of a group known as the Mage Trio, consisting of himself, Fepar Tilrak, and Salasar Feaphed.   Salasar was a Draconian scholar who introduced his friends to the Weave. However, Dwarves could not achieve this power.   Melthrum, thusly, did horrid experiments on test subjects, including implanting an Elven brain into his own brain.

Limitations

The bodies of non-Weave Accessible people are not meant to withstand the power of the Weave. Weave Accessible bodies have places the mana can flow. That being said, more durable races like Dwarves, Orcs, Emetians, and Kamejin can withstand it better than others, making them really the only people who can use an Artificial Weave Portal and live.   Still, it is nearly inevitable that they would die not long after use, or their body would eventually break apart from an overload of magical energy.

Mystery

The Weave is, still, to most of the world a relative unknown. Only right before Melthrum's death was the Weave revealed to the world, and they do not yet know Dwarves cannot achieve it, nor do they know he even had one to begin with.   The only place where anyone would be able to learn about his findings is through his journal detailing his experiments, where it is buried within findings related to the Black Boars squad of soldiers: a group of Super Soldiers who Melthrum illegaly experimented on to make them stronger.   Unless it is ever found, this special magical tech will go unknown for the rest of time. A lost marvel of magic, only achievable if one throws away their morals and their will to live.
