Professor's Cloth

Professor's Cloth is a rot-resistant material made first in the Draconian village of alchemists known as Tamd. It was created in the honor of the mysterious Tamdian hero known only as the Professor.

Unrottable Material

The Professor by Jarhed
Professor's Cloth is a material that cannot be rotted or decayed, either naturally or with the rot magic that was once wielded by its namesake mage, the Professor.   Naturally, it is green, but with special dyes made only in Tamd, it can be made almost any color. Strangely, it cannot be yellow, as the material itself resists yellow dye just as it resists rot.

How the Cloth is Made

Few crops can be grown in Tamd, due to soil that is tainted by potions throughout thousands of years, but with the assistance of many potions, artificially modified plants can grow.   A special crop, created from flax, was made called Alchemist's Flax, which grows only in tainted soil, and, when spun into cloth, it gains enough strength to resist decay.   After this, it is woven together into cloth, mostly for clothing, but also for rags or towels.   It is one of many Tamdian materials that exist only because of their alchemy, which are difficult to find elsewhere, alongside Beldorin Denim.

The Professor

The Professor is one of the most famous alchemists in history, a druglord who created the vile concoction of Burnout, known for utilizing the impossible affinity of Rot Magic.   To most of the world, he is a detested villain, feared for his intelligence and skill.   To Tamd, he is a sign of what they can become: incredible alchemists able to change the world with a single potion.   He also was a figure of rebellion against the unpopular Tamdian Village Chief, Higar Vixik, and for that, many Tamdians loved him.   He died mysteriously in a hot airship crash outside of Bortan, with many thinking he stopped a terrorist attack from another group that had hijacked the vehicle.   His legacy continued, as he was honored by Tamd and many alchemists sought to follow in his footsteps.
