Sage Scepter

The Sage Scepter of Mimir, partner item of the Scarlet Crown, is a broken artifact that once held immense power, yet now lies lost and shattered into many pieces, likely in the Mines of the Slime.

Sign of Rule

Made of a sage green metal that has never been identified, some consider it could be a form of asscinating Fuccium, meaning it has absorbed an immense amount of magic, perhaps the divine energy of Mimir who wielded it for some time.

The bottom of the scepter is a sharp, blade-like hilt that is about a foot long that serves as a melee weapon. For this, as well as its size, some call the scepter a spear, though its purpose is less for physical combat. The blade is a straight point like a spear or a spike.   The middle of the scepter is a mix of sage green and jet black, in two spiraling grips that cross over the center of the scepter like coiled snakes writhing on the the metal.   Above the blade but below the grip itself is an area of jewels and gems from all over Totania, including a diamond, a ruby, an emerald, and thorasite.   The top of the scepter is the skull-like image of a soul screaming in pain, representing both the Necromancy that serves as Mimir's greatest power, but the Souls that are used as currency by his partner in rule, Satanael. It glows red through its eyes and mouth when its power is used.

Each of these pieces of the scepter were broken apart in two, creating six parts: the lower blade, the upper blade, the lower grip (including the jewel-encrusted part of the grip), the upper grip, the lower skull, and the upper skull. Each of these pieces were scattered around somewhere unknown, broken apart so that they could not be used as a symbol of power.   The Sage Scepter is rather large, being about six feet long in total, though that includes the foot-long blade at its bottom. The skull at its head is about six inches and is also fairly wide, as it is meant to be at the top as its centerpiece.   The gems are some of the largest of their kind, as they had to be seen by the giant God who wielded the scepter, though they cannot be removed.   If they could, it would solve many moral troubles that come from this symbol of power and subjugation over all mortals, specifically Elves and Orcs, as said by famed Elven jeweler Dageon:

The Holy Rebellion

The Holy Rebellion was the first great war in Elone. A fight between the Elves, Orcs, and the Gods.   Previously, the two species had been slaves of the two Gods who ran Camor, Mimir and Satanael. They lived for some time under the thumb of those Gods.   That is, until Meiriris Nerifir of the Elves and Amukk God Breaker of the Orcs led the two species in a great battle against the Gods to liberate their people from their holy chains.   With this, Amukk God Breaker overpowered and defeated Mimir and Meiriris Nerifir outsmarted and won against Satanael. Meiriris gained a great treasure while Amukk found only the Scarlet Crown and Sage Scepter. He wanted no part in this, and thus gave the crown to Meiriris, saying she was the one that united him, she should get the useless trinkets.   The Orcs, however, refused to allow Mimir's scepter into Elven hands. Some of them wanted it for themselves, while others believed it should never be in the hands of anyone. They broke it apart, throwing some pieces into the Elven Forest, keeping some with themselves as they migrated in the March of the Orcs, and leaving others in Camor.
"If one were to take each separate part of the Sage Scepter, they would each be the most valuable item in the world on their own. Together, however, it is one of the most detested items in the world."
— Dageon

Power of the Scepter

Despite that hatred, some still seek out the scepter. These are the power hungry people who wish for the might of the Gods themselves. The Sage Scepter holds within it a great power. Even its fragments were said to contain some magic, though it is far stronger when it is put together as a single, united scepter.

Necromancy

The Sage Scepter is the greatest conduit of necromantic power in the world, save for Mimir's Mightem of Necromancy and the Book of Souls itself. It can not only raise dead, but can create corpses around it that can then be controlled by the scepter. It uses the Godly power of Mimir to create not only matter, but souls, that can be used as pawns for the wielder of the Scepter.   It can also shoot out a green pulse of necromantic energy that can be as weak as just pushing people back or as powerful as vaporizing all who come in contact with it.

Domination

The Sage Scepter can also dominate those of weak will. Initially it was able to control all of the Elven and Orcish people, but Amukk God Breaker's will was able to break this power and free himself and his people, which was the first step towards his victory over Mimir. Now, only those not strong willed enough to resist its power and control can be fully controlled by it, though if one is caught off guard by the scepter, or if multiple pieces are combined, this could change.

Secrets

This power can also wipe the mind, helping to keep secrets from spilling. For this, it represents Mimir's greatest power, and it is said that those who tried rebelling against Mimir before Meiriris Nerifir and Amukk God Breaker had lost their memory of the attempt. Whether one can will back erased memories or not is unknown, for no one remembers enough to attempt it.   It can also turn the wielder invisible, turning their very presence into a secret. While the wielder is invisible, unless someone keeps their thoughts solely on them, they cannot even be thought of or perceived until they turn visible once more. For the moments they are invisible, to all people, they do not exist.

Symbolic Power

The Sage Scepter is representative of the subjugation of the Elves and the Orcs. To some of the richer folk in the world, particularly Humans, who own slaves, it is used as a symbol of their power over the poor and enslaved. Elves, no matter how rich they are, do not use this symbol. It represents the enslavement of their people, an insult that cannot be taken.   Orcs do not fear the symbol in any way. They laugh in its face, tearing up banners that wield it. They do not hate their past in the way that it is insulting, but instead view it as a symbol that they have overcome their struggles. Anyone who enslaves people or uses the Sage Scepter symbol is not to be hated, they are simply to be beaten so that they can learn a lesson or die trying. No matter what though, in Orcish culture, slavers and the Sage Scepter cannot be accepted.

The Shattered Scepter

No one knows where each piece of the scepter is. Some pieces have approximate locations, pieced together from people who may have found the pieces in the past. When those people die, it is often an undertaking by those that kill them to get the piece somewhere new where it cannot be found.   The approximate locations of each piece is believed to be:
  • Upper Skull- Udai
  • Lower Skull- Camor
  • Upper Grip- Mines of the Slime
  • Lower Grip- Mines of the Slime
  • Upper Blade- Mines of the Slime
  • Lower Blade- The Elven Forest
The Upper Skull was once in a museum in the Mammen city-state of Ruzrugh, on display as a mockery to the Orcs. However, it was stolen and used in a power grab by a Korvian who then tried to use it to dominate the Orcs. However, he was killed by a coalition of multiple Orcish clans. It is unknown if it remains in the Korvian City or is now in Orcish possession.   They say the Lower Skull never left Camor, the capital city of the Elves and the sea of power of Mimir. Some say it was pawned off and likely sits in some shop unknown in the city, while others say it is in Camor Keep with the royals of the Nerifir family. Either it is on a special, protected pedestal, or it is kept in the treasury with their gold and other valuables. Either way, if it is in Camor Keep, it is likely the toughest of the items to procure.   The three items that are believed to be in the Mines of the Slime are thought to be there because of the Dark Elves. In their act of rebellion, they took the grip, which had not initially been split, and brought it to their caves. One is said to have been perhaps swallowed by the Dragon Lord Jarrur, Lord of the Dark, while another was thought to be lost deeper within. Some even say the one not swallowed by Jarrur may have ended up in Hell.   The Upper Blade was wielded by a so-called hero who was truly a power-hungry Elf who wanted to conquer the Slime people. He went into the Mines of the Slime and was defeated, the Upper Blade then being lost around the Slimes.   The Lower Blade was thrown into the Elven Forest, a location that few are able to traverse. While Wood Elves may be the few who know their way around, they are also raised to be the last people to want its power. They have immense disdain for Elven power and any who hold power in Camor, which is why they reside in the forest and not the city.
