Tyrannosaurus Rex

The Tyrannosaurus Rex, also known as the T-Rex, is a ferocious dinosaur known for its giant size, sharp teeth, and small hands. It is a lone predator with a fierce roar.

Biology

The Tyrannosaurus Rex is about twelve feet tall on average, with larger specimens being up to fifteen feet tall. Despite their size, they were surprisingly fast, being as fast as most humanoids are at top speed: 16 km/h.   T-Rexes have poweful jaws, which can tear through nearly anything. It is said even the toughest of metals can bend in the mouth of a T-Rex.

Arms

The arms of a T-Rex are about 3.3 feet long, making them incredibly small compared to the rest of the T-Rex's body.   Many wonder exactly what the purpose of these small limbs are for a T-Rex. Some say they are to aid in mating, while others believe it is simply to help them stand. Likely it is true that since a T-Rex's jaws are its strongest weapon, the arms are small to keep them safe.

Roar

The Tyrannosaurus Rex is known for an incredibly loud roar that it lets out to scare its prey. The effect this often has on those it is hunting is either it causes them to begin to flee, revealing their location to the T-Rex, or they are frozen in fear, where the T-Rex can then eat them.

Udai

T-Rexes are native to the continent of Udai, as are all dinosaurs and similar creatures. They can be found everywhere, particularly central and eastern Udai.   Major locations where one can find large amounts of T-Rexes are the Fields of Slaughter, Steppes of Nergal, and all the way to the Yokatlān Crater.   Around the Temple of Amukk, Dinosaurs are said to thrive. It makes the area of central Udai incredibly dangerous, even for the tribes of Orcs that live around there.

Diet

A T-Rex has a highly predator, carnivorous diet. They eat any kind of meat, though largely they hunt large dinosaurs like brachiosaurs which they can simply tear into with their teeth.

Feathering

There are two general types of T-Rex breeds that exist: those with feathers and those without them. Why these two types of T-Rex grew separately are unclear, and what purpose the two have to co-exist is also not an answer scholars have found yet.

In Culture

The T-Rex is the most famous type of dinosaur. For many in Totania, when they think of dinosaurs, they think of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, be it a feathered or non-feathered variant.

Dino Nuggets

The shape of a Tyrannosaurus Rex is just one of many in the Dino Nuggets that are sold across Totania. Some of these are made of chicken meat, others from Avian meat, and some even are made of pure dinosaur meat. Those made from dinosaur are particularly expensive, considered a delicacy despite their fairly juvenile aesthetic. If one were to go to Elone, where it is uncommon to eat dinosaur, they would find Dino Nuggets are a respected food eaten mostly by the wealthy.

Horror Stories

The Tyrannosaurus features prominently in many stories about fearing nature and the animals that live in the wild. There is a well known tale called "The Rex" which is about a Tyrannosaurus that manages to subjugate an army of beasts and uses them to invade and take over a town, hunting the people that live there. The story then is about the people trying to survive when everything around them is controlled by the dinosaurs and beasts, ultimately ending with a chase from the T-Rex itself.

The Revolutionary Beastmaster

One particularly feared Tyrannosaurus Rex is Tolman, the pet and mount of Rosenthal Nutsk, the Beastmaster of the Army of the Revolution. Rosenthal was said to roam around the world with her pets, all atop Tolman, fighting against oppression.   Tolman was a special product of Beastmastery. Unlike other Beasts that are under the control of Beastmastery, Tolman no longer required orders to follow what his master wants. He had been conditioned through her magic enough that he knew what she wanted by instinct.   Rosenthal and Tolman, alongside other animals, were active for over three decades in Elone, from the late 520s all the way to 560, fighting against the forces of the World Court. Many tyrants and rulers feared the jaws of her T-Rex more than they feared the will of the very people they subjugated, but that was all Tolman was: the will of the people that were ready to fight back.
