Casting Spells
Learning to cast spells can be an arduous process for some races, and as easy as breathing for others. And there are even some few who are incapable of using magic at all.
Overview
To cast a spell, one will have to use a certain "casting method". Once the casting method is decided, the spell can be cast, and the magical energy can be used. To cast a spell is to manipulate energy in a certain way to achieve a desired effect. For instance, to conjure flame, you must transform energy into the form of fire.Casting Methods
Throughout the dimensions, there are many different ways to cast spells, known as "casting methods".Incantations & Rituals
Incantations and rituals are the two most used casting methods. They require use of the Language of Magic to function, but are very reliable once one has a grasp on them. For incantations, one simply must recite the right words with intent, and the spell will be cast. Rituals require writing down the letters of the language in a certain fashion, and are a little more tricky. Each letter (or word) in the language take up a "point". The more letters the ritual uses, the more "points" must be added; they must all be connected in a circle. When the ritual circle is activated, the words will work clockwise (starting at 12), as if spoken. Like incantations, they can only be used to cast one spell at a time, though they can be as complex as the caster can write them. This is an example, when activated it will release a large, continuous stream of fire. It uses the letters 'byar', 'strets', and 'hoirl'.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
