Celosia's Wedding Ring

Despite belonging to such an important Celestial, this simple piece of jewelry is often passed over in legends and stories. The tragic end to the tale of Celosia and the Commander discourages many from considering this an important object.
Celosia, receive this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. Let it protect you forever.
— The Commander to Celosia

History

Celosia's wedding ring is mentioned in exactly two stories: her marriage to the Commander and a long-forgotten myth about her and her daughter. During the wedding, the couple say their vows and exchange rings. As he slips the ring on her finger, the Commander adds to the traditional vow, asking that the ring will protect her forever. The ring is described in this story as a simple band of pure gold, strengthened with magic. It was likely created by a Celestial.

Celosia never took off the ring, explaining why to her daughter in a single story most have forgotten. While comforting her daughter after a nightmare, Celosia shows her the ring and tells her that the Commander enchanted it when they married so that it would protect her. "Your father has the most powerful magic in the world," she says. "Nothing will happen to me as long as I wear this ring. It is a sign of our love and a sign of his protection." Rohana, Celosia's daughter, is reassured by her mother's words and falls back to sleep.
The ring disappeared after her death. Many believe it was destroyed by her husband.

Significance

The story of Celosia and the Commander is well-known across the galaxy as one of the greatest and most tragic love stories ever. Celosia's ring was likely her most prized possession other than her violin. Add to that the revelation that her husband enchanted it to protect her, and it becomes mythical. An everyday object that belonged to one of the most powerful people in the world, spelled to protect her from harm, yet still representing the most important thing of all: the love between two people, joined forever in marriage.

I personally believe that while the Commander enchanted that ring, the true protection it offered was not its magic, but his love. After all, what could be stronger than him? What magic spell could stand its ground against the most powerful Celestial of all? She didn't need the magic, she had him.
