Denironian Honor Code

The honor code of the Denironians was written in 4 AT by King Ezekial and Queen Lilith.
Ah, the honor code. I learned it, of course. All Drumatikai did. I'm still surprised how many people followed it, even under the rule of the kings.
— Prince Dragonnias

Purpose

The Denironian Honor Code was intended to provide a guideline for all Denironians to follow and hopefully prevent an excess of unnecessary deaths from unofficial challenges. The honor code decreed that anyone who broke it was dishonored and could not issue challenges.

Background

Around the time that the honor code was written, there were several mass-murdering Denironians whom no one could punish. Queen Lilith and her brother Ezekial wrote the honor code and set it as the main list of rules for the Denironian peoples. If the honor code was breached, the one who broke it was dishonored and would not be able to gain honor or power through challenges. If the code was violated excessively or one of its five greatest tenets was broken, the violator was imprisoned or executed depending on the seriousness.

Public Reaction

Most Denironians were fine with having a set of rules to fall back on. It was especially important after the institution of the Drumatikai, the most powerful Denironian warriors. The code was followed closely for many years but eventually was rarely kept. During the Time of Kings, many Denironians began to break it, since as long as they didn't break it very often or violate the most important rules (1,2,3,5,9), there were no repercussions aside from being dishonored.

Legacy

Although it was rarely followed in later years, the honor code was remembered for years after and all Denironians at least followed the five most important rules to them. Even during the Time of Kings and the Age of Darkness, many considered the breaking of any of the rules to completely dishonor the breaker, a serious matter to the majority of Denironians.

Term

The honor code was written to last as long as possible. The rulers at the time of its composition intended for it to remain in use for thousands of years, and, despite everything, it has remained an integral part of Denironian culture.

When has the honor code been broken?

Most Denironians keep to the code, but there have been a few times over history that the code has been broken. Notable among these is the case of Lord Garvinnalra, who slaughtered his entire family for no given reason during a banquet. Among the dead were his wife Lady Anndroxis, son Dravvinnias, daughters Lialnnah and Irsamere, brother Veroserre, and sister-in-laws Dindrane and Nivitias. The only survivor of this massacre was his younger son, Jehoahaz, who succeeded him as Lord. Garvinnalra was imprisoned and after many studies, he was deemed to have gone mad from the deaths. However, he was also deemed to have been in his right mind when he killed everyone.
I remember the honor code. I learned it as a child and have followed it for years. Have you?
