Introduction to the Tread of Darkness

After some deliberation and thinking, I eventually decided to write two introductions to this world. One is about the actual setting, and the other is about the story set in the galaxy and why I named the world “Tread of Darkness” and not “The Janya Galaxy”.
The Tread of Darkness is probably the oldest and most complicated story I have ever created. It has also gone through the most changes. The original idea for it was more a mystery and hindsight tells me that it was awful and I’m glad I never actually wrote it. Over the years I added to it and changed it and it finally became the expansive saga it is now. Although I only ever wrote ten chapters that I had to delete after I added another character, I have never given up on the idea and it has only grown and become more important to me.
The Tread of Darkness is a sci-fi fantasy story about a group of kids who crash on a planet and must get off. As they attempt to find a way to leave, they discover that they now have mysterious powers. After learning how to use their powers and leaving the planet, they begin a journey to defend the galaxy, mostly by accident. They are joined in their adventures by many other people and eventually discover that they have been chosen to protect the galaxy and fight evil.
The reason I chose to name the world after the story instead of the galaxy is because of habit and importance. For a long time I didn’t have a name for the world, nor did I really think about worldbuilding, instead making up information when it was needed for the story, so I referred to everything associated with the story by its name. By this point, it has become ingrained in my head as the Tread of Darkness and I can’t think of changing it. I’m not even sure what the name was supposed to mean anymore, but again, I can’t change it after calling it this for so long.
I will probably add to or change this introduction eventually for clarity’s sake, but I believe this will suffice for now. Hopefully, it explained a little bit about something. Enjoy whatever comes next!
