Demonkind
Before the squishy stuff came along and infested the world, demons were the first to rule the Earth. Oh what a beautiful land full of lava that was. And the demons or the Firstborn as they like to call themselves, did not forget that and are trying to conquer back the Earth ever since. It was so nice and warm and explosive and the Abyss, their exile home, is so cold and dark.
There has been 5 crusades so far, 5 long wars during which the living beings successfully defended themselves against the demon invasion. There are rumours and signs hinting on the fact that the sixth one is coming soon. But "soon" means something completely different to demons than to us: it might be hours, it might be centuries. But it will come eventually.
There are several distinct groups within Demonkin that are known to even beginners of demonslaying, for example:
- Primordial Lava Giants: They are big and mean and scary and definitely on fire. Run
- Limbs Are Hard: These ones also tend to be on the bigger scale with many legs and arms and tentacles kind of... everywhichwhere. It's like they have an idea of how "scary" looks like, but they do not know how bodies really work in the reality they decided to pop into this time. Some look creepy, some look rather ridiculous. You should still probably run, because those seventy tentacles piled on top of each other only need one mouth to tear your fragile human body to pieces.
- Jinns: They have vaguely human-resembling form, tend to like lamps and any object that can emit light (= magic) really. The historians haven't confirmed it for sure, but there are theories that Jinns were ambassadors during the very First Demon Crusade trying to secure peaceful return of the Demonkind to Earth. It's one of the explanation of why Jinns are able to communicate in human languages, because demons learning anything human seems like a ridiculous notion to everyone (demons included), because they wouldn't really waste their effort on anything human. Apart from murder and conquering stuff. But they've been doing that before monkeys even slithered onto land from sea.
