Everything Cookie says is true, but nobody will ever believe her. Much like her namesake from antiquity, she is cursed and nobody believes her prophecies. Therefore she doesn't speak much and if she does open her mouth she automatically speaks in contradictions - which is how she used to communicate with her older brother when they were both really young. Only very rarely, she dares to express her true opinions and ideas in writings hoping they will come across but still worrying that they will not.
She was born into a really wealthy bohemian family as a second child - her brother Alexander is 3 years older than her, but she has a bigger magical talent. It took a while for the parents to figure out what exactly is going on with their daughter but as soon as they realised her cursed nature they decided to use it to further their advantages and influence over the society. They were a part of a dangerous underground snake cult for a reason and saw their both children more as a tool of legacy than as individual human beings. An investment, perhaps.
Shortly before her 14th birthday, Alexandra ran away and remains in hiding ever since. There is quite a chunky police file on her and what she's been up to all these years but so far none has been able to catch her. Whenever there is some kind of a disaster, be it a disease, an explosion, an anarchist or a demon attack or some kind of a plain old accident, she seems to be there, just before it happens. Not many witnesses put two and two together and even fewer of them know her name, but police forces are naturally mighty suspicious of her and assume she is a part of some kind of an underground movement as well. I mean, look at her parents. Them pretending she died all these years ago is most definitely a ruse, no? Something's afoot.
