In her life, it always rains. The carriages are always late, the pockets are always empty and whatever she touches usually breaks. This unassuming twenty-something woman is as cursed as a human can be. And she always carries an umbrella.

Special abilities

Her one and only speciality is to fuck shit up. That's literally the curse.
She also has some dormant magical abilities but she has no idea what her affinity is and is too afraid to try, because the curse might amplify the spell and that can have some... rather explosive consequences she would prefer not to actually unleash into the world. She has enough of troubles as it is.

She has hidden so many additional steel boning and protective amulets and charms into her umbrella it can kinda serve like an independent weapon. And it frequently does and gets equally often destroyed and replaced by other colourful and patched-up umbrellas after.

Personal history

She had as much of a happy childhood as can be given by an artist single mother who's been obviously traumatised by something more besides the recent war. Dorothy suspects that her mum has been raped by a soldier and that's why she refuses to talk about anything that happened to her before she was born, or anything about her early childhood really.
Besides that, she always had a loving parent by her side, even though her mother was sometimes mentally... elsewhere. But because troubles seemed to follow her wherever she went, she didn't really end up making a ton of friends. Neighbourhood and school kids either feared her, bullied her or envied her that her mum is a famous painter.

Education

She went to an elementary school, followed by an all-girls grammar school which she left as a 17 years old with a diploma. Because her classes were mostly focused on how to run a household and other lady-like activities and occupations, for her tendency to break stuff all the time, she wasn't regarded as one of the bright kids. She found no friends among teachers either.

Taboos

Her biggest fear is to be used to do something truly evil. She is already stressed enough from the fact that her curse makes it really easy for the people around her to get hurt. A lot of the times it makes her feel like a walking bomb in a skirt just waiting for the right trigger to explode. So she worries that someone out there will figure out what the deal is before her and uses her to hurt other people big time. She hates being someone's puppet and as much as she feels lonely sometimes, she values being independent and self-sufficient despite the fact that she looks like a wreck most of the time.

Motivation

At first, Dora will cling to the idea that she is a GOOD PERSON and will do everything in her powers to supress the curse. But things happen to her anyways. She then will kind of embrace the bad side of her and in change become proud of the fact that she is the bad one and that people hate her and others like her and fear her. And eventually she will realise that she is totally a good person after all, a person can always choose to do good and that the world is not black and white and never will be.
In the end, I just want her to learn how to fix things even though she can technically only break them.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

She is really sensitive to magic around her, vocally detesting its smell and despite having some aptitude for it, she refuses to use it. She hates magic with burning passion and considers it reckless and stupid, because in her opinion, it leaves only blood and regret in its tracks. Without magic, the world would be a lot nicer place. And curse-less.

She also hates corpses and dead people in general. Especially the slimy ones.

Vices & Personality flaws

She is a fan of self harm in its various and sneaky forms. Neglects sleep, food and has a tendency to lunge into things head first, literally. Even if that thing is a 10 meters tall lava demon. How much can it hurt anyways?

She always makes sure to be as clean as possible, but she doesn't really put an effort into looking put together, because it takes like 5 second for the curse to negate all that.
