Observations on the sceptre
This two foot long rod with a sphere at one end initially appears to be made of gold. However, the weight indicates that this is likely only an outer covering. The eight gemstones mounted on the sphere all share a common style of cutting. This style of gem cutting is not consistent with the period that the rod was supposedly created, which may indicate that the gems were taken from somewhere else rather than being prepared for the rod. The gems on the rod are all different:
On the subject of magic, the rod does appear to emit a magical aura. While this has been identified as something related to the divination school, there is an unusual fuzziness in the aura. Spells designed to determine what magics an object has have failed, which led some to conclude that this was a false aura, deliberately placed on the rod to make it appear more valuable than it is. However, a careful examination revealed that the problem was in fact that there are eight distinct auras. Although further investigation is clearly needed, this project has been put on hold while we deal with an urgent request to examine the Heart of Tulivor.
