Firefist

This spiked metal gauntlet was created for use in the Pinnacle Arena in Themio. The Pinacle was known for pitting warriors against some of the most dangerous creatures in existence, and the owners liked to enliven the spectacle by providing some of the contracted fighters with flashy weapons that became as famous as the fighters themselves.
The Firefist was first used by Horil Fairwind. A veteran of five years in the arena, Horil was well used to making a show out of every fight. In order to build excitement he didn’t make use of the gauntlet’s capabilities for a few fights, letting the crowds get used to seeing him wear it. He then started briefly triggering the illusionary flames as he delivered the final blow to his foes, causing excited discussions amongst regulars at arena about whether they had really seen the flames.

After several weeks of teasing the audience, Horil finally started using the real powers of the gauntlet during a fight with trolls. The burning holes left by Horil's punches brought cries of appreciation from the crowd, and it wasn't long before he became known as Horil Firefist. Horil continued to use the powers of the gauntlet sparingly, only triggering it to deal a finishing blow. This approach brought greater excitement to his fights and the audience would debate whether they would see him resort to the fist against various foes.

Jealous Rivals

Not everyone was pleased with Horil's success with the gauntlet. Some of the other gladiators were jealous of his skill at working the crowd and they decided to take steps to bring him down.

After Horil's death the Firefist was used by an assortment of gladiators and when The Pinnacle sent a group on tour around The Empire in an attemp to attract new business the Firefist was one the weapons they took with them to impress the crowds.
The gauntlet was retrieved from the ruins of The Pinnacle in 170 of the fourth age. It made it's way through the hands of several mercenaries before being claimed by Olivia Gerthal. Olivia was the leader of a group known as the Spiderbanes for their work clearing out the creatures around the edges of Griboli Forest. When she acquired this weapon Olivia took the opportunity to rename the group to Firefist Company (and change her surname in the same way) in the hopes of gaining a greater variety of work.

Extra Glove

Most wielders of the Firefist take to putting on an additional thick leather glove prior to donning the gauntlet. This is because firefist doesn't have quite enough protection from it's own heat and it can burn the wielder's hand. Fortunately it's easy enough to get the gauntlet on over the glove as it resizes to fit.

Rare Evocation Requires Attunement

This metal gauntlet is made for the left hand.

At Will: As a free action the wielder can cause the gauntlet to be wreathed in illusionary flames. These flames do no damage.

1 Charge As a bonus action the wielder can cause the gauntlet to glow red hot. For the next minute the wielder gains +1 to attack and +1d6 fire damage with the gauntlet.

2 Charges As a bonus action the wielder can cause the gauntlet to glow white hot. For the next minute the wielder gains +2 to attack and +2d6 fire damage with the gauntlet.

The gauntlet can have a maximum of 4 charges and it regains 1 charge each day at Midday.
