Personal history
The child of a disgraced noble Tyber was taught his parents' resentment towards the rulers of Caresnas from an early age. Despite having lost their wealth and influence, his parents tried to raise him with the skills of one born to power and privilege. This set Tyber apart from the other children in Puginford and he suffered from their bullying as a young child. Having been brought up to believe that he was meant for better things than farming Tyber left home at sixteen to seek his fortune in Trem.
He was disappointed by the lack of jobs in Trem that would pay well with little effort, and with the lack of recognition of his immense talents. So when he happened across a chance to pick up some easy money by tricking a wealthy trader he jumped at the chance.
Tyber quickly realised he had found his calling as a con artist, and used all that his parents had taught him to pass himself as a noble, tricking numerous people out of their wealth. Unfortunately he had no concept of restraint and he drew attention from his repeated successes. By the time he was 19 he was forced to leave Trem one step ahead of the law. Tyber soon realised that his description had been circulated to all the major settlements making his previous line of work impractical at best. He therefore decided to become a highwayman.
Knowing that wealth isn't much use unless you can spend it Tyber acquired a full face mask to which he attached a blond wig and additional hair so make it look like he had a beard. To cover the stitches holding the hair on the mask Tyber added an elaborate pattern of embroidery to it. When he started robbing coaches and wagons, the main thing people remembered was his mask and he became well known as the Embroidered Mask.
Tyber's disguise worked well and the authorities spent a lot of time looking for a blonde bearded man rather than Tyber, who on more than one occasion would sit down for a drink with his pursuers marvelling at their bravery in hunting the infamous Mask. With his disguise secure, Tyber was able to acquire a comfortable home, telling his neighbours that he worked as a guide for groups of explorers.
Tyber terrorised the roads near Trem for half a decade before the crown decided to send the renowned tracker and adventurer Cal Threson after him. Despite all of Tyber's precautions, Cal was able to track Tyber back to the cave where he kept his spoils and his disguise. Cal was then able to set a trap for Tyber and brought him back to face the king's justice.
