Personal history

Yabrix arrived on Laiqua before it was overly populated and found a suitable site for a home in the northern mountains. As a result Yarbrix was able to make preparations, including arranging for some suitable minions to travel over from the mainland, in advance of any threats arriving to challenge him. By the time Laicosto and Ironhammer halls were being settled Yarbrix was in full control of his mountains.   Unlike many dragons, Yarbrix had no interest in claiming the treasure or lands of these new arrivals and instead established non-aggression agreements with the new arrivals. Yarbrix has kept to these agrrements though he wastes no time extracting penalties when the other parties break their terms.   As new groups have come to power Yarbrix has maintained a finely balanced position. He avoids making himself so much of a threat that others feel they have to slay him, while still appearing powerful enough to be too much trouble to attack.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Yarbrix is just as greedy as any dragon, and it is this greed which drives his actions. However, rather than gold or gems what Yarbrix adores is sculptures, carvings, or tomes from failed civilisations. The age of the object is immaterial, with a carved pillar from the Imberdins being given equal weight to a statue from The Empire.   The objects which are most valuable to Yarbrix are those which come from civilisations that he had the pleasure of watching come to ruin.

Yarbrix is happiest when he is causing the downfall of a town or country. His favourite trick is to turn himself into a humanoid so that he can infiltrate a settlement and plant information that will lead to it's downfall.   Targeting the arrogant and greedy Yarbrix will leave hints as to how they can expand their wealth or power. Never forcing them, just showing what opportunities exist, and nudging things along in the right direction.
Yarbrix is also known to hold grudges for a long time. If a short lived creature offends him he seek a long, slow, and very painful revenge, and will likely carry on tormenting his victim's descendants or community long after the original offender has perished. Yarbrix is happy to wait years for his revenge to truly begin which is part of what earned him the title of The Patient Threat.

Likes & Dislikes

Yarbrix has amassed a huge store of historical knowledge and he is not adverse to sharing some of it for the right price. His favourite form of paymentr is historical objects, but he will also accept information about newly discovered ruins.   Yarbrix is also fond of sea food, especially if he doesn't have to catch it himself. His prefered meal is whale, which he likes to leave to ferment in his swamp. Those passing through Yarbrix's mountains, and especially the swamp where he spends most of his time, will frequently have to pass through arches of whalebone.

Yarbrixian Literature
Stories about Yarbrix's power are not eactly hard to come by. A bard, Letharan Silverbrook, made a deal with Yarbrix in order to save his own life after a failed attempt to slay Yarbrix. Letharan was tasked with spreading word of Yarbrix and the fate of intruders in the northern mountains. Lethanan was open about the deal that kept him alive, and though he was arrested in Laicosto for imperiling the kingdom his songs inspired others to write about Yarbrix. Many of the stories are entirely made up, but some claim to be true.
