Trials by Starlight

Humanity has finally been contacted by life from other planets. A peaceful species of intelligent extraterrestrials known as the Gek. They have granted humanity the technology for faster than light travel and taught them how to use it. This act of peace pushed humanity into a new age of enlightenment, and gave them the knowledge needed to shoot further than even the most distant stars. But while it opened up humanity to a new age of exploration and discovery, it opened them also to the wider dangers of the universe. Will humanity be able to overcome these trials, or will they become one of the creatures sacrificed upon the alters of progress?
