The People’s Rebellion
The very first kingdom to be made in the new world (after the Great Extinction) was ruled by a tyrant only interested in personal gain. He declared himself ruler of the land when his village suggested they should have some form of government system. His rule stretched into surrounding villages, until he had enough ‘subjects’ for a sizable army. He then decided that if a village refused to join his new nation, he’d attack until they surrendered their land, or until there was no one left to argue. Many people saw this as a negative thing, others saw it as the sign of a strong leader. He had procured so much land that it felt fit to call him king. Unfortunately, he wanted money and power more than he wanted the respect of his subjects. He didn’t listen to his people or his advisors, and refused to do anything about his kingdom’s many problems. After a few years of this, the people got angry. They were tired of being taxed and ignored, all while the king lived in luxury and kept sending armies out to conquer new territories. In secret, away from the king’s prying eyes, a society met to discuss plans to overthrow the king. It took them nearly two years to get everything into place, but eventually, they were able to make their move. The society comprised of civilians, soldiers, and even some of the king’s own advisors. It started with storming the castle, infiltrating every hallway in search of the king. The society was armed and ready for battle with whomever they might find. The king was completely blindsided by this attack, having been too focused on a new battle plan for more territory. The people found him, tied his hands together, and knocked him unconscious. They dragged him out to the courtyard, and announced for all to hear, that the people must be heard. They declared that there would be a new king by dawn, and that the old king would be jailed, serving as a reminder to himself and to others that you cannot silence the voices of the people.
