Dragoons

Give me a good squad of Spearmen and Dragoons, and I'll tell you, not a century or more turned could stop us.
— Emmel Haladrel, commander under hb. Doralel Roiskshien
While many units have readily adopted gunpowder weaponry in response to advances in enchanting them, few are as powerful as the dragoon. Equipped with a twin set of firearms - one large and smaller yet faster - and skilled at riding, dragoons specialise in mobility, versatility, and power. Their powerful primary dragon from which they take their name excels at controlling the battlefield, and if paired with a strong frontline infantry, a major defeat would be a rare sight. Their success may be due to the novelty of their tactics and abilities, as the enemy has not yet been able to plan for them.

Composition

Manpower

One squad is typically 5 men strong which come together in units of 5 squads. Each squad is given an additional man as support which is capable of administering first aid treatment and contacting the army commanders. A unit of dragoons is given their own secretary at their base and are usually led by a 26th dragoon commanding the unit.

Equipment

Dragoons, like most other backline and mobility units are equipped with spell-forged uniforms. Resistant to slashing, tearing, and piercing from a Turned's claws it protects most of the body and is rather durable to mundane wear and tear as well and does not have to be replaced often.
They are also given a supply of essential supplies. Dragoons are often sent as a vanguard alongside scouts to secure a path for the rest of the force to follow. As such each dragoon carries at least a week's worth of rations, a tent, and other supplies to set up camp.

Weaponry

The most recognisable piece of equipment dragoons carry are their twin firearms. The large dragon gun, sometimes called the dragoon's hand-cannon, is loaded with heavy shells and is most effective at mid-to-short range. It is typically augmented with an anti-regeneration spell and a guiding spell. This does not necessarily improve the dragon's accuracy. Rather it serves to focus its impressive firepower into a concussion inducing impact capable of flinging targets back several metres. However reloading the dragon costs time, and without their second firearm dragoons would nonetheless find themselves overwhelmed by enemy forces.
Their second, less impressive yet still vital gun kept on a dragoon's person at all time is a 4-shot revolver. Being able to deliver four attacks before reloading allows for quicker response times. Additionally, the steadier, more controlled explosions of the revolver allow for effectiveness at a greater range than the dragon.
