Deizhjoraan
The Deizhjoraan of North Waihohn are a unique group of Gjoran descent living in the barren wastes unclaimed by the state's of Waihohn. Their origins are in Asios, a promised haven free from the bureaucracy and laws of modern nations but the Deizhjoraan were unsatisfied. Even Asios had hierarchy deemed unjust and unearned. The Deizhjoraan left Asios peacefully, not looking to take the city but only to escape. Their numbers have grown in the almost five decades they have inhabited the outlands, by birth and (though not ethnically integrated) recruitment of Waihohn Gjorans.
Though the Deizhjoraan consider themselves a tribe of people, many others would disregard this categorization, referring to them as a gang, social movement, or simple association of circumstance.
The Deizhjoraan take pride in the low habitability of the areas they move through and see it as a feat of great strength to live where they do in the outlands north of Boscom and Asios on the north island of Waihohn.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
The Deizhjoraan speak a strange, half remembered version of old Gazhyar. There has been a focused effort to do away with the modern loan words of the language and return to a more traditional dialect. This has of course been hindered greatly by the lack of texts among the Deizhjoraan tribe. The main ways in which the Deizhjoraan dialect has come about is through oral history of their elders.
Shared customary codes and values
The Deizhjoraan are stern traditionalists and primitivists. They reject the societal norms of the modern world and wish to return to their nomadic routes.
Common Dress code
The dress of the Deizhjoraan is very bare. In warmer weather the Deizhjoraan will gladly go nude though their circumstances bring them often to frigid lands where will make preemptive arrangements to have furs converted to thick coats.
Art & Architecture
The Deizhjoraan live strictly in skin tents or out in the elements. They are nomadic and leave little trace of their camps once gone lest a black spot where their fire burned.
Deizhjoraan art is a vibrant part of their culture which they covet and preserve. Their music is much like that of the old Gjorans, consisting of low, muddy harmonies, booming drums, and droning strings played with a bow.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
A birth is traditionally observed by the entire clan and is a celebratory occasion with drinks, music, dancing, and gambling surrounding aspect of the arriving child. The placenta is prepared in a stew to be drank by both parents and the mother is treated to her first drink of alcohol since pregnancy began. The first drink is traditionally a cup of Bozh, an alcohol made from cactus pear and flavoured with various herbs.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Given what challenges they face, the Deizhjoraan are greatly invested in ideals of strength and brawn. All hair is grown long and thick while their bodies are lean and muscular. Above all else they idealize size.
