Summary

An ancient Monkey Yōkai who has settled down over the long span of his life and now dedicates most of his time to the worship of Amaterasu. In recent decades, he has determined that the best way to accomplish the spread of the Sun Goddess' warmth is through literal hot springs. Using powerful monkey magic, he has coaxed steaming water out from beneath the earth near Lake Biwa, and more recently near Yasaka-jinja in Yamashiro Province. It is his hope that these onsen will help bring the various races and classes extant in Japan together for a common experience. In pursuit of this, he ensures that none are turned away at the door, regardless of their shape, affiliation, or past. Of course, if any creature starts to cause trouble in one of his facilities, they suddenly find themselves at odds with an ancient and powerful being with more than a few tricks up his sleeve.
Enjin's slow and warm demeanor has been carefully cultivated over the course of several centuries. Though he was by all accounts quite a menace in his youth, he now lacks that explosive energy and instead appreciates the simpler things in life, like a full cup of sake and a roaring fire. How one of the greatest of the Monkey Yōkai came to be a follower of Amaterasu is not entirely clear, but Enjin seems to quite enjoy spreading her brand of love and acceptance in his own unique way.
