General Types
General Types: Overview
Any character identified in Tsuwamono as a General (that is, not a troop, monster, or other generic character) and who is at least D-rank can be assigned a General Type. Separate from races and classes, the purpose of a General Type is to describe a character's role in society and on the battlefield in a broad cultural context. In addition, a General Type confers the use of special abilities and bonuses in a few select skills, unique to each Type. [Support]: A tag attached to some General Types, this term describes that the character in question is not necessarily intended for direct combat. Provides no effects, but may change how the General Type interacts with specific other abilities. Type Abilities: These abilities are unique to each General Type and may be used freely by any character sharing that Type. Some General Types have variants that share some, but not all abilities. Key Skills and Expertise: Any character of a certain General Type is expected to be at least somewhat proficient in a certain set of skills. In game terms, this means that a General of that Type is always considered to have at least 80 points in three specified Secondary Abilities. If the character has not invested in the abilities, or has not reached a Final Ability of 80, they are considered to be trained regardless, with a Final Ability of 80.If the character has invested enough DP to reach a Final Ability of 80 or above in a Key Skill, they instead receive the "Expertise" perk for that Secondary Ability. Characters who possess Expertise in a certain Secondary Ability may reroll all results lower than 20 shown on the dice when using it, preventing fumbles and ensuring a certain level of success from experience.
Characters with Bad Luck and Expertise may still fumble when rolling a 1, in which case this benefit does not activate.
