Summary:
Kusuzaki Astrid is a bit taller than average for a Japanese woman, though not quite so tall as her Gewehrman genes might indicate. Her hair and eyes are a piercing yellow color, immediately setting her apart as a foreigner. This effect is only accented by her Küchenakademie uniform, the Western military style of which cuts a fine figure on her lean body. Though not a fighter, she has a certain grace and precision in how she moves, instilled by years of careful service in the Imperial Court as well as careful tutelage by her mother. Though she values duty, honor, and honesty, especially in cooking, Astrid approaches these values with a bright, friendly disposition which tends to immediately endear her to those she speaks to. If she were said to have a flaw, however, it would be her inflexibility. When things don't go to plan, or procedure is not properly observed, Astrid has a tendency to flounder until someone is able to set her back on the right track. Her hobbies include the obvious culinary pursuits, but also making custom bookmarks bearing miniature representations of famous artworks.Background
To speak of Kusuzaki Astrid, one must first understand the circumstances of her birth. Astrid's mother was a high-ranking officer in the Gewehrland culinary institution known as Küchenakademie. At the peak of her career, she was nominated to participate in the academy's most ambitious operation to date. Several professors, including Astrid's mother, were dispatched across the world, each tasked with discovering their target country's ultimate dish, reporting back to the Küchenakademie only when they were successful. Upon arriving in the strange foreign land of Japan, she was first overwhelmed by the cultural differences, but soon found herself a natural fit for the island nation. The native population too, found Astrid's mother to be quite a novelty, and she was soon invited to the Imperial Court to show her cooking skills to Japan's top nobility. It was here, over a plate of unmatched Gewehrland cuisine, that she met Kusuzaki Zensuke, and, for the first time in her life of duty and excellence, fell in love. Kusuzaki Astrid was the result of this union, and she has inherited many of her mother's best traits. Unfailing etiquette, a sharp mind, and a certain charisma all lent themselves to her advancement in the Imperial Court, but Astrid's mother had other plans for her. Despite all the happiness she found in Japan, she had failed at her true mission, to find the land's ultimate dish. It took little convincing for Astrid to take up this task in her place. Bidding farewell to those friends she had gained while in imperial service, she put on her mother's old Küchenakademie uniform and set out for Yamato Province, where so many cultures of Japan converge, in search of her solemn duty.
