Summary
Shibai is not her real name, of course. That's simply a word sometimes used to describe wandering female performers, the likes of which she resembles in most respects. Shibai has simply taken it on as an alias, a general descriptor, lest the many crooks she's brought to justice seek revenge on her family. While she can sing, dance, and perform tricks with a blade, Shibai is more than just an entertainer. She's a samurai detective, able to use her particular skills to ingratiate herself with even the most hardened of rogues before bringing them to justice. In the past she's worked for the Oda, to weed out those who sympathized with the Tokugawa, or with the Hōjō to take down a group of wily pirates. Meeting her in person, Shibai is just as charming as one would expect an entertainer to be. She carries on conversations easily, putting others at their ease until they let important information slip and beyond. Her manner is gregarious and harmless, right up to the point where it becomes cold as steel. It's hard to say which one is the real woman and which is the mask.
