Skyhold
The Castle at the Peak of the World
A forbidding city of stone-gray walls and towers seated on the northernmost pinnacle of mainland Japan. Eminently defensible and accessible only by a lonely dirt road, Skyhold is nonetheless a locus where warriors from all across the Date Clan lands and beyond gather. They come for one reason: to compete in Princess Masamune's legendary competitions and earn a boon. Supposedly there is no wish the Immortal Princess cannot grant should she be suitably entertained.
Upon more than a cursory inspection, the whole concept of Skyhold begins to look mightily suspicious. Why is this bizarre castle town, a clashing between Eastern and Western tropes, located far from any significant seat of power or position of strategic worth? Who is Princess Masamune, who has supposedly ruled these lands forever but has no influence beyond this single castle? Why do none of the doors to the houses actually open, and what would one see, were they to look through the windows? The exact details are unclear, but these mysteries and more likely stem from the ever-growing, ever-unstable rift to the Dreamlands torn in the sea off the province's eastern coast.
