Gunsmith Tanegashima Shigetoki (a.k.a. 種子島 茂秋)

Summary

First daughter of the Tanegashima Clan and last in a line of expert swordsmiths, more recently turned gunsmiths. Tanegashima Shigetoki was serving Toyotomi Hideyoshi as a gesture of friendship between their two families, but was captured by and subsequently began to serve the Hashinara Clan. She carries a massive gun of her own design that eliminates the need for slow reloading like flintlocks, but is at the same time very complex and unwieldy. Despite her appearance, she has both the stamina and the strength to accommodate this, being surprisingly stalwart for a princess.
Shigetoki is almost exclusively silent, only speaking when absolutely necessary and usually only in one-word statements. This, combined with her flat affect, leads many to worry about her, fearing that she is suppressing her feelings or suffering from a severe depressive state. In reality, she is quite emotionally healthy, and her deadpan manner is simply her natural temperament. Naturally, this does not lend itself well to making friends, but Shigetoki conveniently prefers solitude.
Gunsmithing was drilled into her from a young age, and so while she is skilled in it, she sees it more as a profession or an obligation than a hobby. When she has time to herself, she instead prefers to build miniature towns or castles out of whatever materials happen to be at hand. Her room is littered with the things, made of everything from tatami to woven grass plucked from outside.
