Summary

Uchiue Akira was raised by wolves. Or perhaps it was friendly Tanuki on the island of Sado instead. Or Tengu maestros upon a forbidden mountain. Regardless, he did not see civilization until he was already a man. Akira hardly speaks, and sometimes it's unclear whether he can actually even understand Japanese. His method of communication is far more primal and powerful: rhythm.
The call of music was already loud in his ears when, at thirteen years of age, Uchiue Akira crafted his first drum set out of logs and animal hides. He played for an audience of animals and lightning bugs on some faraway plain, where not even the lights of distant cities could be seen.
How he came to be a member of Parapara Starlight is a bit of a legend in itself. The band's other four members were practicing one day when Akira just walked out of the woods and joined them. With a pair of sticks in his hands, he laid down a rocking beat on whatever happened to be at hand. The rest is history.
Now a proper member of the band, Akira has his own following. A certain type of fan can't get enough of his quiet, handsome mystery. His Yamanba Drum Set is among the only of its type in Japan, and his drumming so skillful that he's able to use it for more than just making music.
